Mickael 'Marso' Riviere (UK)
Acclaimed French choreographer, performer and teacher, Mickael ‘Marso’ Riviere, established Company Decalage in 2004 and the company has since performed at venues and festivals worldwide. His eclectic dance background is reflected in the company’s unique style, which blends various dance languages including Popping/Waving, Capoeira, B-boying and Contemporary dance.
Mickael has received funding from Arts Council England and support from DanceXchange in Birmingham to develop his work in collaboration with international dancers and musicians. In 2008, Breaking Point reached the semi-finals of The Place Prize, the UK’s most prestigious choreography competition.
He is in demand as an independent choreographer and has worked with artists as diverse as the Bolshoi Ballet, Jonzi D and international Hip Hop crews. He is Associate Artist at DanceXchange in Birmingham and established his own Urban Dance Agency, Bboys Attic, now regarded as one of the foremost urban dance educators in the UK.
In 2010, Company Decalage toured venues across the UK as part of the National Dance Network’s Dance 3 initiative which highlights the work of the new wave of dancemakers.
